Yumi Araki is a summer editorial intern at Talking Points Memo, and will begin her Masters program at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism (Class of 2014), studying politics, this fall. She comes to the AAJA VOICES program after covering science and technology as an associate producer at an independent documentary company, and is excited to delve back into multimedia journalism and hard news after years of focusing on video production. As a VOICES program participant, Yumi hopes to tighten her reporting and narrative skills while experiencing first hand how journalists can utilize the latest trends in technology for effective storytelling. Yumi graduated from Boston University’s College of Communication in 2010, and is a native of Tokyo, Japan.
