Dana Macalanda grew up knowing she wanted to tell stories. A recent graduate from the University of Oregon and a native Oregonian, Dana is fascinated by the lives of everyday heroes and hopes to one day share their stories as a foreign correspondent in Asia or Southeast Asia. She believed that applying for a spot in the VOICES project would be an extremely important step in working to achieve this goal and is excited to be a part of it. In addition to writing, Dana loves design and photography and hopes to improve her overall skill set in order to contribute as much as possible to the changing landscape of how stories are presented in journalism. When she’s not working on a story, Dana can be found practicing wushu (a Chinese martial art), reading, or baking.
